Watersheds
of the World CD
This comprehensive database addresses 20 global issues
through key maps, data, and indicators for 154 of the worlds
largest basins. It also provides an analysis of the state of
the worlds river basins, including the environmental goods
and services they provide. The CD was produced by the Water
Resources eAtlas, a joint project of World Resources Institute,
IUCNThe World Conservation Union, the International Water
Management Institute, and the Ramsar Convention Bureau.

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is an international nonprofit scientific and educational society dedicated to the improvement of drinking water quality and supply.
EPA' s Office
of Water is responsible for coordinating the agency's
water quality activities, including the implementation of the
Clean Water Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act. The Office
develops national programs, technical policies and regulations
for drinking and ground water control. Additionally, the Office
enforces pollution source standards. The Office of Water conducts
a Non-point
Source Pollution Control Program to coordinate information
and education on preventing non-point source water pollution. EPA's
Watershed
Protection initiative seeks to protect and restore aquatic
ecosystems and protect human health by approaching problems
from a broader, watershed level.
H2ouse: Water Saver Home
is a website developed by the California Urban Water Conservation
Council to highlight opportunities for water savings in the
home. The site includes a virtual home tour featuring places
to save water indoors and out, as well as a list of actions,
background information and advice for saving water at home.
Living Machines,
Inc. designs and builds wastewater systems that naturally
treat sewage and industrial waste to re-use quality.
The Low Impact
Development Center provides information on protecting
water resources and the environment through site design that
replicates pre-existing hydrologic conditions.
Minnesota's Environmental
Data Access website allows users to find and download
data from water quality monitoring sites in the state and, where
available, to view the conditions of lakes, rivers or streams
that have been assessed.
The National Institutes for Water Resources is a network of Research Institutes in every state. They conduct basic and applied research to solve water problems unique to their area. See the Directory of Water Resources Research Institutes for the Institute in your state.
Non-point
Education for Municipal Officials (NEMO) is a University
of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System project using innovative
techniques to teach local officials about the sources and impacts
of non-point source pollution, how different land uses affect
water quality, and what towns can do to protect water quality.
Oasis Design
offers information on water systems, wastewater systems, greywater
systems, rainwater harvesting, and composting toilets.
Rocky
Mountain Institute (RMI) offers a range of water consulting
services designed to complement the in-house expertise of water
utilities. Services include initial planning of water efficiency
programs, fine-tuning of existing programs, and long term planning.
The Universities
Water Information Network (UWIN) disseminates
information of interest to the water resources community and
all concerned with our nation' s water resources.
Water. Use it
Wisely. is a water conservation campaign created by
Arizona cities, summarized on a website that includes 100 tips
for saving water.
The Water Environment
Federation (WEF) is a not-for profit technical and educational
organization working to preserve and enhance the global water
environment.
WaterWiser:
The Water Efficiency Clearinghouse is a partnership
between the American Water Works Association, the U.S. EPA,
and the Bureau of Reclamation to serve as the preeminent resource
for water efficiency and conservation.
