games for children and curriculum for teachers.
The Environment
Department of Canada's Water Website offers
a number of publications on water efficiency for both
students and teachers.
Teacher's
Corner includes publications and online resources
for teaching children in primary through secondary grades
about water and water quality through various activities.
Give
Water a Hand is a program of the University of Wisconsin
to help young people learn about water resources in their community
and what they can do to protect them. Downloadable Action
Guide and Leader Guidebook.
Global Rivers
Environmental Education Network (GREEN) is an action-oriented
approach to education, based on an interdisciplinary watershed
educational model. Resources include curriculum guides and monitoring
equipment and handbooks.
Learning
to be Water Wise and Energy Efficient is an education
conservation program developed by the nonprofit National Energy
Foundation for grades 4 - 8.
The Rivers Project
includes teacher training sessions each summer and a Rivers
Curriculum for high school students with units on biology, earth
sciences, geography, language arts and mathematics, applicable
to any river in the world. Curriculum Guides are available,
and water quality data may be submitted to the project. A student-authored
publication called "Meanderings" is also produced
by the project.
The Soil
and Water Conservation Society offers a range of educational
resources related to water, including a wetlands activity guide
and a series of Environmental Adventures booklets for ages 8-11
with teachers guides, including one entitled "Water in
Your Hands," also available in Spanish.
Utah
Nonpoint Source Pollution Education Activities (PDF
format) compiled by Utah State University Extension lists NPS
materials for both young and adults including curricula, activities,
books, videos, pamphlets, and fact sheets.
The Bureau of Reclamation Mid Pacific Region's Watershare
website, a virtual water conservation center, features water
conservation educational resources and
online lesson
plans for teachers of K-12 students.
The Water
Education Foundation develops and implements education
programs leading to a broader understanding of water issues
and to resolution of water problems.
Water
Education for Teachers (WET) is a project to facilitate
and promote awareness, appreciation, knowledge, and stewardship
of water resources through the development and dissemination
of classroom-ready teaching aids and through the establishment
of state and internationally sponsored Project WET programs.
